The Zephyros Compact 2 (Version 3) is a classic 2 person lightweight tent. Its compact pack size and easy pitch design make it a versatile tent for more than just solo backpacking.
I purchased the Zephyros Compact 2 to replace my earlier, non-compact Zephyros. I was never happy with the first one. It was too long to fit comfortably into a backpack, but my main issue was with the end poles which couldn't be held securely in place. No such problems with the Compact Version 2, though. It packs away nicely and fits easily into a backpack. The end poles are now held firmly in position as well. Used for the first time on a Dartmoor wild camp last weekend and really pleased with my purchase. It does need to be pitched on level ground if possible, otherwise the fly won't be taut and it flaps in the wind, but this is probably true for most tents? A more expensive tent might be a little lighter, but this one feels very strong and was light enough to carry easily. This was my first purchase from Hill and Dale, and was ordered online. After placing my order, and before it was received, I noticed it was listed at £26 below the price I'd paid a few hours earlier. After contacting Hill and Dale, they happily refunded the difference without complaint. Excellent customer service and competitive pricing means I'll happily use Hill and Dale again.
I'm not one for writing reviews but I feel compelled to fo one. I've had this tent before when I first started hiking then got bitten by the ultralight bug. Laser comp 2 :(. The zephros has a feel of strength in the fabric unlike some tents that you put up thinking mmm will this handle that weather.
Only giving 4 stars as I haven’t actually had chance to camp out in it yet but have set it up in my living room, so light and easy to put up, the quality is excellent..
Hill & Dale were great to deal with I ordered just before Christmas but they still kept me updated on delivery and it turned up on time as they said it would.👍 very happy with that.
Plenty of room inside for one person and all their gear, such as rucksack etc. but it would be a bit tight for two people. The fly-sheet door could do with a better designed fastening system instead of clipping to the inner mesh. It takes a bit of practice to get the tent pitched nice and tight, but once it is up it is very comfortable and stable on windy days. All in all I would say its a great tent for the price.
