The Respond Mid II GTX is ideal for that extra bit of ankle support when walking on uneven terrain. Constructed from velour leather and mesh, the Respond Mid II GTX has a sleek, sporty design alongside a durable upper. It features advanced technology including a GORE-TEX lining and an Air-Active footbed which means the boot is waterproof and breathable. A notable feature of the Respond Mid II GTX is the aggressive Meindl sole unit which has a deep profile for excellent grip and stability. The sole unit is made from 22% recycled rubber which makes the Respond Mid II a sustainable option. We use rubber offcuts from our production and therefore we can reduce raw material usage and transport. The rubber has been designed to maintain the well known Meindl quality level of abrasion and grip. This boot is ideal for hiking and adventurous travels. Meindl Rating: M - Multi activity - 360g
Conditioning and proofing spray keeps nubuck leather and suede protected. The boots can be treated when the uppers aren’t quite dry – it ensures they’ll remain supple. Applying a little wax to the hooks and eyelets will protect them from corrosion.

In-stock items are dispatched the same day if ordered before 2pm (Monday - Friday) or the next working day if ordered after 2pm or on a weekend.
Deliveries are normally next working day for orders over £100. If under £100, we sometimes use a 48 hour service. You will have the option to upgrade to a next day service at the checkout.
Special Order items are dispatched within the timescales displayed after selecting your size.
Most orders are dispatched using DPD Next Working Day.
We use Royal Mail for the more remote parts of Scotland, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland. Please allow a little extra time for delivery in these areas.
For orders under £60, we normally dispatch using Royal Mail 48 with delivery being made in 2 to 3 days. You will have the option to upgrade to a next day service in the checkout.
A tracking number will be emailed to you for all orders over £100 on the day of dispatch.
For orders under £100 dispatched using an untracked economy service, a reference number will be emailed, but you will not get full tracking, only confirmation once delivery has been attempted.
Sometimes you will see 'Special Order' when selecting your size. For these items, we will dispatch once we have received them from our supplier.
An estimated lead time will be displayed for Special Order items.
Yes, returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase so long as it is unused and still in it's original packaging*.
You can return for an exchange or refund. Return postage is at your own cost.

I bought these boots to tackle walks on the hills and mountains and to wear as a daily boot / shoe. I bought them as they were light and I had planned on doing some hill runs too.
6 months of light regular use and the rubber soles are almost totally worn out with very little grip left.
The uppers are fine but after nearly breaking my wrist three times as I slipped in wet grass/mud I’ve totally lost confidence in these boots. My wife’s boots which has a traditional vibram black rubber sole was fine and offered plenty of grip on the same terrain.
The problem appears to be with the use of poor quality recycled rubber which is way to soft for a hiking boot.
Won’t be buying again for sure
finally got out on a decent hike this week with them, 10 miles out if the box and absolute perfection! early morning little bit of dew on the grass, nothing came through, super comfy. and outstanding customer service as always from Hill and Dale!

Meindl never fail to impress. They produce quality products. I have five different pairs of Meindl shoes for different uses. They are all a perfect fit and so comfortable. Top marks given.

I have bought Meindl Respond Mid II GTX Walking Boots from Hill and Dale Outdoors for the last 5 years and they are the best Boots I have ever worn.
I would also say it that it is one of the best companies I have had experienced in Customer Service, delivery and professionalism.
I was looking for a lightweight boot, one to supply a bit extra ankle support but still light enough for summer use and flexible enough to drive in.
These fit the bill well, they’re light, breathable and flexible. My only complaint is that the sole could be a little better. The grip is good but I can feel stones through it. I'm not using them for hiking, just short walks over easy terrain but I wouldn’t wear them for anything more serious.

Comfortable and usual Meindl quality
My 3rd pour largely due to the first two developing a split where the toe casing meets the main boot. Fixable but needed security of a new boot.
Comfy boots though which is why I keep going back but good if could be sorted at factory level.
Really comfortable and naturally waterproof.
Great boots
I use Meindl Ontario walking shoes a lot but wanted something of a similar weight but with more ankle support. These Respond boots are perfect for my needs, not too heavy and very comfortable. Service from Hill and Dale was as ever excellent.
My second pair these are excellent as expected. Sole pattern is improved with good grip compared to earlier model. No blisters ever with these, perfect fit. Feet are size 9 boots are size 9 brilliant fit with medium thickness socks so in use fit is not slack or tight. Excellent service by Hill and Dale and good price for the boots. Well recommended.
The Respond Mid 2 , very comfortable and stable pair of boots.
These boots are excellent. Last Meindls I bought a UK 7.5 but after years they'd started to rub. Read some reviews and bought these in a UK 7. Did a few walks on the flat to test them out and they were fine. Felt tighter obviously but no issues. Then did the Inca trail in them. Super comfy, waterproof and no blisters whatsoever. Sturdy but not too heavy at all. Would definitely recommend. Paired them with darn tough socks and have absolutely no complaints. Hill and dale were excellent and delivered as they said they would
Light and very comfortable. I'm a size 11. I did try a a size11 boot but it was just a bit too snug. I bought the 11.5 instead and it is perfect, exactly the right amount breathing space for my toes. I use this boot for walks in good to damp/light rain weather. If the weather is really rainy or very muddy, I use my Scarpa Terra as nothing gets through those.
My husband has walked approximately 20 miles with the boots so far and is very impressed with the quality and comfort of the boots. He has also walked through boggy wet ground and no water has entered the boots. He gas had no blisters and has said that they are a very good boots for trekking.
Pleased with these boots. I've had Meindl's that feel more robust, and I'm interested to see how the recycled soles hold up, but these are what I wanted at the right price for wearing every day.
If you find boots that are perfect for you; stick with them. These are my 4th pair.
Brilliant boots, this is my fifth pair! They're smart, very comfortable and can be worn in so many places.
This is the 3rd pair of Meindl boots I've bought in the last 5 years. They fit like a glove, have great grip and are lightweight, the perfect walking boot except - this 3rd pair have arrived with shorter laces which means it's difficult to tie a single bow and a double bow is impossible. Why do companies like Meindl damage a hard won reputation with stupid cost saving on a pair of boot laces? It looks like the accountants are in control which invariably means that things at Meindl will only get worse, I'll shop around next time.
Excellent quality good fit for my wide foot.
My second pair of these boots. I have wide feet but narrow ankles and these fit me well. Light and comfortable to walk in straight from the box.
Meindl respond mid
These Meindl boots as always, are a perfect fit for me. The fact that Hill and Dale have them available in half sizes means that I can get a perfect fit every time.
I was able to purchase them at a very good price which also helps me enormously.
