Who do you use for delivery?

Most orders are dispatched using DPD Next Working Day.We use Royal Mail 24 for the more remote parts of Scotland, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland. Can I track my delivery?

A tracking number will be emailed to you for all orders over £60 on the day of dispatch. For orders under £60 dispatched using an untracked economy service, a reference number will be emailed, but you will not get full tracking, only confirmation once delivery has been attempted.

What does 'Special Order' mean?

Sometimes you will see 'Special Order' when selecting your size. For these items, we will dispatch once we have received them from our supplier. An estimated lead time will be displayed for Special Order items.

Can I return an item?

Yes, returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase so long as it is unused and still in it's original packaging*. You can return for an exchange or refund.Refunds are carried out immediately after receiving your item back. Return postage is at your own cost.* for safety reasons, we do not accept the return of climbing equipment or underwear once it has been tried on.

All items sold come with a minimum 12 month warranty that covers defects in materials or workmanship.Certain brands offer an additional warranty. You can find this information on the brands own website, or you can contact us for additional information.

Made with Nubuck leather uppers and incorporating a Gore-Tex lining the Philadelphia shoes are totally waterproof and very breathable making your feet more comfortable in wet conditions. The sole unit is Meindl's Comfort Sport Sole which has optimum heel to toe motion. To add to the overall comfort the footbed is made from Air Active Cork. Whether you are walking the trails and paths or just want a supremely comfortable pair of shoes to wear all day the Philadelphia is a shoe for you thanks to the Comfort Fit Wellness Sport technology giving a rounded shape which supports and enhances your natural rolling movements. Caring for Nubuck Leather Footwear

Nubuck leather starts out as full grain leather but is sanded and brushed on the surface to give a matt finish and increase breathability.

To preserve the life of your footwear, it is important to regularly treat the leather to keep it nourished and help prevent it from drying out. All leather/nubuck will eventually harden and crack - especially in areas where the upper flexes during use. Regular use of a suitable leather conditioner will extend the time before which this flex cracking will occur.

In order to maintain the breathability and matt finish of the leather, spray's are normally recommended to treat and proof the leather. Meindl's Conditioner and Proofer spray or Grangers Footwear Repel Plus Spray. These sprays add an element of water repellancy to the leather and adds conditioning for leather, suede and nubuck.

For more protection and water repellancy, a wax can be used such as Meindl Sportwax or Grangers G-Wax. This will change the finish of the boots to a smooth grain leather finish.

Proper maintenance and care is a requirement of the manufacturers warranty.

Great Width and Comfort

I used to buy Meindl's Caracas walking shoes mainly for the nubuck leather, but I always found them a little tight around the toes. I'm a 'G' fit, which is wider than normal ('F') so I thought it would be a good idea to try the wider fit Meindl range. The Philadelphia nubuck has more of a nap than the Caracas, but still oils up nicely without any staining, with just a quick brush to realign the nap. The soles are really nice for urban and trail walking, with better cushioning than the Caracas. The toe width is the best thing about these shoes though, with tons of space for my G fit feet. I would wager even an H fit would feel comfortable in these shoes.

Quality walking shoes

I bought the Philadelphia GTX to replace a previous pair that are falling to bits after years of walking around forest and hill trails with my dog. They are good to go straight out of the box, are genuinely wide fitting and have a sole substantial enough for rough tracks. In short they are comfortable, hard wearing, 'grippy' shoes that I rely on.
