The Meindl Philadelphia GTX is a versatile walking shoe engineered for low-level trails and urban exploration. Crafted from premium waxed Nubuck leather, it delivers durability and refined aesthetics. GORE-TEX lining ensures breathability and waterproof protection across all weather conditions.
The Comfort-Fit design features a wider forefoot for unrestricted movement while maintaining heel security. An Air-Active Wellness Sport footbed delivers cushioning and airflow, whilst the Meindl Comfort Sport sole offers reliable grip and underfoot comfort on varied terrain.
Equally suited to extended hikes or daily wear.
Conditioning and proofing spray keeps nubuck leather and suede protected. The boots can be treated when the uppers aren’t quite dry – it ensures they’ll remain supple. Applying a little wax to the hooks and eyelets will protect them from corrosion.

In-stock items are dispatched the same day if ordered before 2pm (Monday - Friday) or the next working day if ordered after 2pm or on a weekend.
Deliveries are normally next working day for orders over £100. If under £100, we sometimes use a 48 hour service. You will have the option to upgrade to a next day service at the checkout.
Special Order items are dispatched within the timescales displayed after selecting your size.
Most orders are dispatched using DPD Next Working Day.
We use Royal Mail for the more remote parts of Scotland, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland. Please allow a little extra time for delivery in these areas.
For orders under £60, we normally dispatch using Royal Mail 48 with delivery being made in 2 to 3 days. You will have the option to upgrade to a next day service in the checkout.
A tracking number will be emailed to you for all orders over £100 on the day of dispatch.
For orders under £100 dispatched using an untracked economy service, a reference number will be emailed, but you will not get full tracking, only confirmation once delivery has been attempted.
Sometimes you will see 'Special Order' when selecting your size. For these items, we will dispatch once we have received them from our supplier.
An estimated lead time will be displayed for Special Order items.
Yes, returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase so long as it is unused and still in it's original packaging*.
You can return for an exchange or refund. Return postage is at your own cost.

The Meindl Philadelphia walking shoe is the most comfortable walking shoe I've had the pleasure of waring. Hence this is the fourth pair I've bought. So, why 4 stars? I walk about 30 miles a week, a little less in winter, say 1,250 miles a year, mainly on rough paved surfaces. I wear these shoes out in about 18 months. My guess is that's too quick and it could be improved without degrading comfort. But walking is our main physical activity, so I stick with the shoe that contributes the most to enjoyment of the activity.
Although you state the colour is dark brown. In fact the shoe is light brownYo need to get Meindl
to review their site. This time I’’ll
keep the GTX light brown. I had the same problem with Taunton leisure whose web page says Dark Brown. Light brown received and returned.

Great shoes they last about a year before they start coming apart at the seams.
If you are looking for a pair of good quality approach shoes that allow your toes to move whilst keeping your foot secure then look no further, the Meindel GTX are an excellent choice which I use for hiking, scrambling and mountain climbing.
Fourth pair in 12 years
Designed for walking with curved sole. Newbuck is more durable than cheaper alternatives. Insoles like “Tempur”. Goretex provides good waterproofing - but beware rain soaking in via socks as it can’t get out again !!

Best walking shoes I have ever owned. These are my third pair, the previous ones having been worn through after many miles later.
I started wearing Meindl Philadelphie GTX shoes fifteen years ago when my ankles were too tender for boots. I've never looked back.
I wore my old Philadelphia's for nearly daily for 3 years before I realised that I had worn them down quite significantly. They are my go-to option for walking the dogs whether wet or dry weather. And the new ones are just as good

Instantly comfortable just like my first pair
3rd pair of these shoes that I have had. A good shoe for a wide foot, very comfortable, even after a few miles of walking. The grip is good and they also look good. They are my go to shoe most days and have not let water in ever as far as I can remember. Delivery was very quick and despite being out when the delivery arrived the driver ensured the shoes were safe with my neighbour. Wry much appreciated.
I have been buying these walking shoes now for over fifteen years, just getting a new pair when the old ones wear out. I do a lot of walking in London, normally no less than six miles a day and these shoes provide support and last for a long time. I only wish they would make them in black, but one can't have everything.

Second pair of these walking shoes which are so comfortable they are worn in the minute you slip them on ! Suede stitching does seem to split eventually as with many of this type but still a great shoe

These are my third pair of Philadelphia shoes - they're a great shape for my feet and well made. Hill and Dale Outdoors had them at the best price I could find anywhere and delivered them quickly. Will happily buy from them again!
