The Meindl Meran GTX walking boot is part of the Comfort-Fit range for hikers with wider feet. Meindl has 300 years of skilled shoemaking and introduced this range for a supportive, easy fit and enhanced natural rolling movement. The uppers are Nubuck leather with wax for durability. Paired with a waterproof GORE-TEX lining, this boot offers full protection in all conditions.

The Comfort-Fit footbed is made from cork with a cushioning fleece lining and is wider at the front of the boot in both width and height. The wider base means more surface area to stand on giving more support than the standard footbed, more capacity for movement and reduced pressure.

The Meran GTX is complete with Meindl Comfort Hiker sole guaranteeing a strong grip on a variety of surfaces. Ideal for light hikes and trails.

Meran GTX walking boot features:

  • Nubuck leather with wax uppers
  • GORE-TEX lining
  • Comfort-Fit, cork and fleece footbed
  • Meindl Comfort Hiker sole
  • Waterproof protection

Conditioning and proofing spray keeps nubuck leather and suede protected. The boots can be treated when the uppers aren’t quite dry – it ensures they’ll remain supple. Applying a little wax to the hooks and eyelets will protect them from corrosion.

Sportwax is a natural product formulated to condition and proof leather. Apply it with a sponge or cloth and don’t forget the tongues of the boots. Rub the wax in well. There’s no need to heat it, as this could reduce boot breathability. Waxing changes the appearance of the leather, making it smoother and darker. Applying a little to the hooks and eyelets also protects them against corrosion.

Caring for Nubuck Leather Footwear

Caring for Nubuck Leather Footwear

Nubuck leather starts out as full grain leather but is sanded and brushed on the surface to give a matt finish and increase breathability.

To preserve the life of your footwear, it is important to regularly treat the leather to keep it nourished and help prevent it from drying out. All leather/nubuck will eventually harden and crack - especially in areas where the upper flexes during use. Regular use of a suitable leather conditioner will extend the time before which this flex cracking will occur.

In order to maintain the breathability and matt finish of the leather, spray's are normally recommended to treat and proof the leather. Meindl's Conditioner and Proofer spray or Grangers Footwear Repel Plus Spray. These sprays add an element of water repellancy to the leather and adds conditioning for leather, suede and nubuck.

For more protection and water repellancy, a wax can be used such as Meindl Sportwax or Grangers G-Wax. This will change the finish of the boots to a smooth grain leather finish.

Proper maintenance and care is a requirement of the manufacturers warranty.

Hope these last better than the last pair

Love these boots as fit is wide and perfect, my last pair are reserved for summer as they leak after only 14 months, the lining wets the top of my feet, otherwise the build quality seems like the rest of meindl boots range of which I have a few.

Best boots ever

As a 77 year old, 78 in a couple of weeks. These boots are a repeat purchase, last pair worn out after a few years wear. Best boots ever. Used to swear by Merrill but later in life needed a wider fit. These boots have proved themselves over and over from New Zealand through Asia and the uk.

Wide fit walking boots

I have size 12 wide feet, the boots fit like gloves.

A boot of two halves

Now owned these for 18 months - excellent, comfortable and very waterproof uppers. However the "Comfort Hiker Sole" has less grip on wet stones than any boot I've ever owned. They also have no lug on the back to help you pull the boot off risking pulling the sole off the boot. Finally the laces are too large for the hooks meaning I often find they've slipped out again later.

Great for dog walking in muddy fields, not suitable for damp coastal paths.
