Meindl Caracas GTX Walking Boot Features:
Sturdy nubuck leather walking shoe with Gore-Tex lining. Urban walker sole by Vibram Meindl Rating: A - 460g
Sportwax is a natural product formulated to condition and proof leather. Apply it with a sponge or cloth and don’t forget the tongues of the boots. Rub the wax in well. There’s no need to heat it, as this could reduce boot breathability. Waxing changes the appearance of the leather, making it smoother and darker. Applying a little to the hooks and eyelets also protects them against corrosion.
In-stock items are dispatched the same day if ordered before 2pm (Monday - Friday) or the next working day if ordered after 2pm or on a weekend.
Deliveries are normally next working day for orders over £100. If under £100, we sometimes use a 48 hour service. You will have the option to upgrade to a next day service at the checkout.
Special Order items are dispatched within the timescales displayed after selecting your size.
Most orders are dispatched using DPD Next Working Day.
We use Royal Mail for the more remote parts of Scotland, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland. Please allow a little extra time for delivery in these areas.
For orders under £60, we normally dispatch using Royal Mail 48 with delivery being made in 2 to 3 days. You will have the option to upgrade to a next day service in the checkout.
A tracking number will be emailed to you for all orders over £100 on the day of dispatch.
For orders under £100 dispatched using an untracked economy service, a reference number will be emailed, but you will not get full tracking, only confirmation once delivery has been attempted.
Sometimes you will see 'Special Order' when selecting your size. For these items, we will dispatch once we have received them from our supplier.
An estimated lead time will be displayed for Special Order items.
Yes, returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase so long as it is unused and still in it's original packaging*.
You can return for an exchange or refund. Return postage is at your own cost.

Absolutely superb shoe which gives the freedom of a shoe with the security of a boot, I’m currently on a a walking holiday in Madeira and they are a comfortable as slippers from day one. I highly recommend them
This is now the third pair of this type of Meindl shoe I've bought over the last ten years and it's a great product and thoroughly recommend them.
Also I got very good service from Hill and Dale who answered a query I had very promptly.
These have to be the worst pair I’ve ever owned. Less than 2 years old and both feet leak badly, as in wet socks. My partners Meindl boots do exactly the same. We clean them regularly, never let them sit with mud/dirt on them; we use Meindl sportwax and Meindl waterproofing. Yet there’s really wet feet. Bearing in mind they both cost in excess of £200 a pair, I can’t believe how bad they are. Never again.
This is the 4th pair of these excellent shoes that I normally wear on a daily basis , have two pairs that I swap around, last me about 2 1/2 years of comfortable hard use .Thoroughly recommend you get what you pay for .

These are my second pair. The sole eventually wore down after constant wear over 5+ years. Leather still great and also the Gore-Tex liner. The leather heel back does not come apart like knit does. Buy these!

Very well made comfortable leather walking shoe
This is my third pair of Meindl walking shoes. The Caracas are sturdy and very comfortable. Great feel. I am normally UK size 9 but for Meindl I always go up half a size. Excellent service from Hill and Dale. Exchanged a pair of Meindl Philadelphia as too wide quibble free, thank you.
These were to replace an identical pair of Meindl Caracas GTX that I bought years ago and finally wore out. I had doubts about buying them online without trying on first but they are perfect and exactly the same fit and comfort as my last pair. Excellent service from Hill and Dale and quick delivery. Always had merrell shoes in the past, but recently been disappointed in their waterproof qualitys,and difficulty to keep clean. So decided to go leather as per my boots. Wow ,these shoes are superb and the leather is just gorgeous. Comfortable straight out of the box and no breaking in needed .reasonable light weight and easy to clean.

This is my fourth pair in five years - the latest are still as comfortable, well fitting and robust as the first. The only downside is that, although they can be resoled when worn, the cost is virtually the same as a new pair because of the welded design.
Well made, as expected from Meindl, and fit extremely well with more width around the toe. No breaking in required - walked 5 miles from new with no issues. Excellent all round.

Superb pair of walking shoes. Fitted like a glove and gave instant support to the point that I wasn’t aware I was wearing them. I have had various pairs of Meindl shoes and have never been disappointed. As a previous reviewer mentioned, they are made in Germany and not China for a change!
It is really too soon to give a proper assessment of the Caracas. So far I have used them only on Edinburgh's pavements, rough and uneven though they may be, and they (and I) have coped well. They seem to be well made and are comfortable, attractive and lighter than I expected real leather to be.
In common with most other makers of boots, Meindl do not supply a spare pair of laces. Throughout my hill-walking life, laces have worn out long before the boots, and it has always been a problem to replace like with like. If it is possible to obtain a matching pair of these, please advise.

I needed a pair of all round walking shoes, saw the Caracas, at a good price and thought I would give them a try. They look good and are very comfortable. I have some Meindl walking boots and the Caracas walking shoes are every bit as well made. Would have no hesitation in recommending them.
Brilliant shoes at an excellent price. Second pair I’ve bought from this shop. First pair lasted five years (and still in use) and I do twenty miles per week in these shoes. Ideal for general lowland hiking.
I love how good Meindl boots are and these shoes are no exception. I have feet that blister easily due to heel spurs, however these fit like a glove. Truly amazing, I will replace with the same when these wear out, without question.
Meindl, that’s what I expect for them. Good fit, nice walking shoe. How long they will last me, I don’t know 🤷♀️. They should be three years or more and then I will be happy 😃!
This is the second pair of Meindl Caracas gtx shoes that I have owned. The previous ones lasted 5 years. The shoes are used daily for dog walking etc. They are also used for Nordic Walking. They are a good comfortable fit, and quality made in Germany (not China). Just as good as Meindl boots. I have never had wet feet, provided they get protection by using Meindl Sportwax.
