The Bernina 2 is a classic walking boot that's part of Meindl's Comfort Fit range and offers a wider fit than a standard Meindl fit with more room around the toes and a greater boot capacity overall.  it has similar technical specification to the well known Borneo.  The Bernina 2 boots are leather-lined and have Memory Foam around the heel area for enhanced comfort and a secure fit. The technology behind Meindl's Digafix also improves heel hold and stability, preventing the foot from slipping in the boot. The leather lining makes these boots more comfortable in warmer and more humid conditions due to a cooler foot climate. The cork Comfort Fit footbed from Meindl is known to provide a stable platform as you're standing on a wider base, whilst the defined contour allows for the natural roll of your foot when walking. Comfort Fit styles from Meindl are known for their out of the box comfort, minimal breaking in is required.

Bernina 2 walking boot feature guide:

  • Upper: Nubuck leather with wax
  • Lining: Leather
  • Footbed: Comfort fit®, cork and fleece
  • Sole: Meindl Multigrip® 3 Alpin Light by Vibram®
  • Last: Comfort fit

Sportwax is a natural product formulated to condition and proof leather. Apply it with a sponge or cloth and don’t forget the tongues of the boots. Rub the wax in well. There’s no need to heat it, as this could reduce boot breathability. Waxing changes the appearance of the leather, making it smoother and darker. Applying a little to the hooks and eyelets also protects them against corrosion.

Wetproof spray increases the water resistance of your boots and shoes. This should be applied twice a year after cleaning and prior to waxing or conditioning. It is suitable for leather, suede and fabric footwear.

Caring for Smooth Leather Footwear

Caring for Smooth Leather Footwear

Leather needs regular ‘nutritional’ waxing. Meindl Sportwax or Grangers G-Wax is ideal. Apply when the footwear is dry using a clean lint free cloth. Remove or loosen the laces and don’t forget the tongue. It’s also a good idea to apply a little wax or Vaseline to any metal eyelets to help prevent corrosion.

To preserve the life of your footwear, it is important to regularly treat the leather to keep it nourished and help prevent it from drying out. All leather/nubuck will eventually harden and crack - especially in areas where the upper flexes during use. Regular use of a suitable leather conditioner will extend the time before which this flex cracking will occur.

Wax will change the appearance of the leather making it smoother and darker. This is perfectly normal.

Proper maintenance and care is a requirement of the manufacturers warranty.
