When you place an order to purchase a product from hillanddaleoutdoors.co.uk, we will send you an e-mail confirming receipt of your order and containing the details of your order. Your order represents an offer to us to purchase a product which is accepted by us when we send e-mail confirmation to you that we've dispatched that product to you. That acceptance will be complete at the time we send the Dispatch Confirmation E-mail to you. Any products on the same order which we have not confirmed in a Dispatch Confirmation E-mail to have been dispatched do not form part of that contract.
We reserve the right to cancel your order at any time for any reason. Upon cancellation a refund will be provided immediately.
We always try to be as open an honest as possible with regards to delivery times and dispatch date. If paying by card, your card will be charged at the time of order but can be refunded at any time prior to the order being dispatched upon request. If paying by PayPal, your PayPal transaction can be refunded at any time prior to the order being dispatched upon request.
When you order multiple items on one order, items will be grouped together and dispatched in one shipment regardless of the dispatch times quoted on the website. If you want us to ship items as soon as they become available we may need an additional payment for delivery costs. We will contact you to discuss and agree any additional costs that are due.

In some cases we may use an alternative courier to the one stated to delivery your order depending on the size, weight and value. We reserve the right to alter the service used at our discretion.
The service used for international deliveries can vary.
When orders are dispatched, you will be informed of the shipping method and tracking number (where available) via email just in case you need it. You can also see the status of your order at any time plus your tracking number in the 'Your Account' area of our site.
If you live outside of the UK and you paid a delivery charge when you placed your order, this charge is payable again if we need to resend you an item that has been returned for an exchange.
While every effort is taken to provide accurate international shipping costs at the checkout, there may be cases when the actual cost we are charged when we book your item on with the courier varies from the amount you paid. We reserve the right to request an additional payment for postage in these cases. You will still retain the right to cancel your order at this point.
With most of our delivery methods, we utilise insured, signed for, services to cover the goods being delivered. Should you make any amendment to the signed for delivery arrangement with the respective courier, such as leaving in an alternative place/safe place etc. you then assume the liability for the goods.
For items that do not qualify for free delivery, we charge based on the size and weight of the order. These are calculated dynamically based on weight.
The size of your order is calculated automatically when you add items to your basket and the delivery charge is displayed at the checkout.
When your order is dispatched we will email you to confirm the delivery service we have used. Any missing deliveries must be reported to us within 7 days of you receiving this email in order for us to resolve the issue. We will be unable to take any action to resolve any delivery issues for missing orders if they have not been reported to us within this time.
Any damage to your items in transit must be reported to us within 2 days of receipt. We will be unable to take any action to resolve any delivery issues for damaged items if they have not been reported to us within this time.
With most of our delivery methods, we utilise insured, signed for, services to cover the goods being delivered. Should you make any amendment to the signed for delivery arrangement with the respective courier, such as leaving in an alternative place/safe place etc. you then assume the liability for the goods.
Any goods sent within the European Union are not subject to import duties or taxes in the delivery country. If the delivery country is outside of the European Union you may be charged import duties or taxes. These charges vary and must be paid by the recipient of the parcel. If you have any questions related to customs charges, please contact your local customs office.
For some products we do not hold full stocks for immediate dispatch, but you can still order and we will dispatch as soon as it becomes available. In some cases we may instruct our supplier to dispatch the product direct to you.
All of our suppliers are different and offer different delivery times. When adding the product to the basket, the dispatch time quoted reflects the time taken to get the goods from our supplier.
Please note that dispatch estimates are just that – they are not guaranteed dispatch times and as a result should not be relied upon as such. That said we always aim to dispatch goods within the times quoted, but if it looks like there's going to be a delay we will contact you with an update.
We often display a size guide provided to us by the supplier for items for sale on the website - these guides are a general guide only and Hill and Dale will not be held liable for any items that do not match the size guide provided by our suppliers.
In most cases the item you receive will be in the original bag supplied by the manufacturer and will have been previously unopened. In some cases the products we receive from our suppliers will have been opened and re-packaged and in some cases products may have been tried on in the shop prior to sending. This in no way affects the quality of the product and we ensure all items are not defective prior to sending out.
If this is an issue please contact us prior to placing your order.
When you place an order with PayPal, your delivery address is passed to us by PayPal. For security reasons we will only ship to this registered PayPal address. You should ensure the correct address is setup in your PayPal account prior to placing your order.
This is to protect you from unauthorised use of your PayPal account.
When placing an order over the website we charge when we dispatch the goods or when we order the stock in from our supplier. Please contact us prior to placing the order if this is an issue. Your payment can be cancelled at any time prior to the goods being dispatched by contacting us.
VAT is charged on all applicable items that are delivered within the EU. If you are outside of the EU, the website will deduct the VAT from your order before your payment is processed. Either change your country in the shopping basket or during the checkout process the ensure the VAT element is removed from your order.
All payments made to Hill and Dale Outdoors will be processed in Great British Pounds (GBP). If you are outside of the UK we will display an estimated conversion into your own currency. This is just an estimate and the actual amount you are charged at the checkout may vary slightly. Additional fees may be added by your card provider for paying in a different currency. Hill and Dale Outdoors will not be held liable for any additional processing fees applied by PayPal or by your card provider during the checkout process or for any difference between the estimated converted amount and the actual amount you pay.
Discount vouchers will either take a percentage off the total order value (excluding postage), or will take a percentage off the recommended retail price (RRP) of the item. The method of discount will be shown in the shopping basket after you apply your voucher.
Only one voucher can be applied per order.
Attempting to apply a discount voucher to an item that is already discounted more than the percentage of the discount voucher will have no effect. I.e. if you are using a voucher that takes 10% off the RRP of any item in your basket, but the item already displays a discount of 15%, then the voucher will have no effect.
For discount vouchers that take a percentage off the entire order value, clearance items will be excluded from this promotion.
We reserve the right to withdraw discount vouchers at any time without any prior notice.
If your purchase includes a free item added on, we reserve the right to exchange the item for a similar product of an equal or higher value if there are any supply issues. If you choose to return your order, any free products should also be returned in a new and unused condition. If you return your order for a refund and do not return the free item, the cost of the free item (as defined by the selling price on our website) will be deducted from the amount you are refunded. If the item is not currently available for sale separately on our website, the manufacturers recommended retail price will be deducted.
For health and safety reasons, we will not accept returns for underwear or socks after they have been tried on. As soon as they have been tried on we deem them to be used and will not accept the return - the price of the item (as defined above) will be deduced from any refund amount.
All products are guaranteed against failure due to defective workmanship or materials. The guarantee lasts 12 months from the original invoice (unless otherwise stated) and excludes faults caused by accident, neglect or misuse.
If your item has been sent by Royal Mail, delivery is normally made within 3 working days, but please allow 15 days for delivery to take place. If there has not been an attempted delivery within 15 days then we will start to process a claim through Royal Mail and either refund your transaction or send a replacement item.
If you item has been sent by a courier service, delivery is normally made the next working day from you receiving your dispatch confirmation. In some cases we will send using a 3 to 5 day service but this is normally when you live in more remote parts of the country. If no delivery has been attempted within 5 working days please contact us and we will pursue.
If you find your purchase is unsuitable for any reason we will exchange it or refund the cost as long as it/they are returned in a new and unused condition within 30 days of the date of receiving it/them. Please be aware that you are responsible for the return postage costs.

To return an order fill in the return form on the reverse of your receipt indicating the reason for return and the action you want us to take. Please pack the item(s) carefully; goods must arrive in a like new and unused condition for the refund to be issued.

We can only accept returns if you:

Ensure the product is in a new and unused condition*
*You have the right to try on goods to assess their suitability, just in the same way you would have if purchased from a shop premises. We will not accept returns for goods where you have not acted reasonably by wearing an item beyond just trying it on. Examples of this may include an item of clothing that has been worn, or boots or shoes that have been outside.
We reserve the right to charge a re-stocking fee if the value of the returned goods has been reduced as a result of you handling the goods more than was necessary. The extent to which you can handle the goods is the same as it would be if you were assessing them in a shop. An example could be trying boots or shoes outside. The amount deducted from your refund will be communicated to you prior to a refund being made.
The standard warranty period for all goods (unless otherwise stated) is 12 months from the date of delivery to you. This covers defects in materials and workmanship, but will not cover general wear and tear. If your item has developed a fault and is outside of the 12 month warranty period please contact us - we will look at every case and do our best to sort things out for you. Return postage will not be paid when your goods are outside of the 12 month period and we offer no guarantee that the manufacturer will resolve the issue, however we will try our best to get the item either repaired or replaced.
Delivery charges paid at the time of order will not be refunded, unless the item is faulty or has been sent out in error. Please be aware that any refunds could take up to 14 days to be received into your account.
IMPORTANT: Ensure you use a postal service that provides suitable insurance for the value of the item. Hill and Dale Outdoors cannot be held responsible for any items lost in the post.
If you originally paid a delivery charge on your transaction and then return it to us for an exchange we will charge the cost of delivering the exchanged item. We will contact you prior to sending for an additional payment.
To return an item you believe to be faulty, please contact us by email at support@hillanddaleoutdoors.co.uk. We may ask for images of the fault where possible in order to proceed.
You must contact us first before returning faulty items as we will not refund postage costs unless otherwise agreed with us. In most cases we will provide a pre-paid return label so you do not incur any return delivery costs. We do not have the facility to provide pre-paid return labels for returning goods from outside of the UK. You should use a local courier and provide us with proof of the costs you have incurred.
When returning faulty goods within your warranty period, be aware that items will normally be returned to the supplier for testing. Once the supplier agrees that the item is faulty, we will issue a refund or replacement. Please be aware that any refunds may take up to 14 days to be received into your account.
When returning faulty items to us ensure that:
Items are clean and free from dirt and debris (our suppliers will reject unclean items)
You include the original purchase receipt
For health and safety reasons, we insist that all returns are clean and free from dirt and debris. Soiled garments will be rejected and returned at your own cost.
If you return an item that is found not to be faulty we will require a payment for return postage to you.
If you've had the product for up to one year we will repair the product, or if that's not possible replace the product. If this isn't possible and we can't find an alternative product we will provide a refund.
Where you return a product in contravention of 14.2 (and where you do not have any other legal right to return the product):
(a) we will not refund or exchange the product;
(b) we may retain the returned product until you pay to us such additional amount as we may charge for re-delivery of the returned product; and
(c) if we do not receive payment of such additional amount within 14 days of issuing a request for payment, we may destroy or otherwise dispose of the returned product at our sole discretion, without any liability to you.
For customers outside the UK, you are responsible for any postage costs in sending item(s) back to us and the return postage back to you. Please contact us prior to returning an item as we may be able to suggest a local outlet that is able to deal with the return.
For your safety we are unable to exchange or issue a refund for any new and unused climbing equipment once it has left our premises. Please bear this in mind before you make your purchase (this does not affect your statutory rights).
Whilst we aim to be as accurate as possible in our listings, we are only human and occasionally errors occur. Hill and Dale Outdoors reserve the right to cancel orders for products that have been incorrectly listed. If this does happen, we will void/refund your payment immediately and email you explaining what has happened.
We use product specifications provided by the manufacturer when listing our items for sale. Hill and Dale cannot be held responsible for inconsistencies between the manufacturers quoted specification and the actual specification. If you are unhappy with the product or feel that the product has been incorrectly listed, please let us know and if the product is in an unused condition, we can exchange or refund the product at your discretion. If the product has been used, we will replace/credit at the discretion of the manufacturer.
If an item is advertised as being a reverse auction item, the price will automatically reduce by the specified amount at the time displayed until either the item sells, or the auction ends. When the auction ends, the price will normally revert to the normal selling price, but in some cases, the item price may stay at the lowest auction price. This will be displayed on the product detail page.
To avoid disappointment, ensure you purchase the item before the auction ends. If an auction has ended and the price increased, we will not sell at the reduced price. If the auction is about to end, but you are not in a position to pay for the order immediately, you should add the item to your shopping basket to lock the current selling price. Adding the item to your shopping basket does not prevent the item being purchased by somebody else so you should proceed to checkout and complete the purchase as soon as possible.
We reserve the right to cancel a reverse auction at any time without notice.
We reserve the right to make changes to our website, policies, and these Terms and Conditions at any time. You will be subject to the policies and Terms and Conditions in force at the time that you use the website or that you order goods from us, unless any change to those policies or these conditions is required to be made by law or government authority (in which case it will apply to orders previously placed by you). If any of these conditions is deemed invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that condition will be deemed severable and will not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining condition.
