Meindl Journey Pro GTX Wide Fit Walking Shoes - Reed/Red

Recent purchase so only light use so far. However fitted very comfortably out of the box, specifically for a wider foot. Will increase distances as footbed settles to my profile but is probably ready to go now after 2 weeks. Not tried in the wet as yet but don't anticipate any issues with a Gortex lining and firm sole. Colour match perfect for my needs and will suit wider recreational use.

As usual, these walking shoes are great with a couple of minor niggles. They are wide fit and the toe box area is super comfortable. The top of the heel cushioning is quite hard and has taken a while to break in. The laces are rubbish, they are elasticated and slippy so are continually needing adjusting, I will replace them with normal laces.

The first time I laced up these shoes one of the lacing loops pulled out!

Lovely shoes but a half size too big

I am so delighted to finally have some walking shoes that fit my wide feet after a life time of squashing in to walking boots that weren't quite right. Solid, comfortable, and all ready for a walk in the Carpathians in a couple of weeks. Fantastic.

Most comfortable walking shoes I’ve ever had after trying so many over the years I will be sticking with this brand from now on, the delivery from hill and dale outdoors was extremely quick thank you.

I have a pair, and worn them 1 year, and now they are splitting from the sole to the upper on one show. They have not had an easy life with my wearing them and doing 15 miles plus daily, and in one case 52miles. The eyelets I thought would break haven't, so far I have replaced the laces and the insole, but now the shoes are end of life. I would have liked to see them last a little longer as they are pricey (for example Scarpa are similar priced, much better quality, but not so wide fittting).

Have had many Meindl shoes in the past and these are no exception.Comfortable from the day I put them on.I needed the wider fit as I have some sort of Plantar Plate issue and a Hammer Toe for the past few months.
I am size 11and find them a tad loose but no issues with rubbing .

My first impression was great and they fitted well but when I went to wear them properly (outdoors) one of the cord eyelets pulled straight out (I don't think it's a great idea, whatever happened to proper metal eyelets ?) !!! They have been returned but as it was a special order from Germany it's gonna take a few weeks to turn around 😕. Hill and Dale have been good but I'll wait and see what comes back from Germany??

Great looking shoe and looking forward to wearing them in the up and coming trip to the Rockies but having bought my regular size 11 found my toes were easily touching the end of the shoe.
Sent off for 11.5 and still touching the end, Im now awaiting the third pair. Having tried, Meindl, Lowa, Merrell and Clarks it would appear that specialised walking shoes come up small . I play golf in 10.5 wide Footjoys but now need a 12 walking shoe!!. I think the 11.5 Meindls are a close fit but although the shoe says comfort fit, (it is where the main foot is) the toe end of the shoe curves too much and catches my second toe. I now have to wait 4 weeks for size 12 . All shoes tried with a standard ankle sock and not a walking sock, and yes, postage is racking up !!!

These replaced an older pair of Meindl shoes now discontinued - actually about the 8th pair of similar Meindl shoes I've had. The Comfort fit is excellent as usual for my wide feet and the shoes are very well made and waterproof as expected. Styling is now more at the outdoor/trecking end rather than a more general styling in earlier discontinued models. As part of this, the sides of the shoe under the ankle seem slightly higher and stiffer than expected and so are rubbing a bit on my ankle bone while wearing in. Otherwise excellent shoes as expected.

I have wide feet and have always found that the Meindl comfort range suit me very well. They are not that easy to find but I have always found that the H&D website can supply them.

Bought as a replacement for Meindl Activio GTX wide fit walking shoes which barely lasted 3 years. I'm hoping the stiffer sole will last a lot longer. I'll review again in 3 years and will give 5 stars if there is significant wear left in the soles. The fit is very similar to the Activio but will need more use before they mold to my extreme wide feet which are widest at the centre of my foot. The insoles are poor and have been replaced with a thin but stiff orthotic suitable for dropped arches. This improves the depth needed for my high instep. In fact manufacturing a slightly deeper shoe with a better insole would significantly improve comfort for people like myself. To be fair Meindl is one of the few footwear manufactures that I ca wear at all. I get all my other daytime from footwear from DB shoes who specialise in disability shoes and footwear for people with specific foot problems. Hope this helps other people with similarly challenging feet!

These are the best walking shoes I have ever bought,really comfortable and waterproof. Walking is a real pleasure now😆😆

Have 2 pairs of these shoe keep feet bone dry even when walking in streams

This is my third pair in 5 years, I hang on to them until they are falling apart so good are they. I do a lot of walking and prefer them to my boots whenever conditions allow.
